Deformity Endurance

You get this kind of posture from riding Moto Guzzis for too long (more than 10 minutes). Our friend Andrew Grey shipped his Lemon special all the way from LA to the often wet micro-climate of Spa Francorchamps, Belgium, for a spot of endurance racing. He must love it as this was his second year of self harm. This time co-riding with Rick Redick, Team Guzzi Nerd finished 30th out of 70 - with 20 DNF (Deformity Not Feasible). Down on last year's result but still mighty respectable.
Thankfully Belgians' audio tolerances are much higher than that of Britons - and Americans, and one is still permitted to trumpet with open megaphone exhausts (it would be incorrect to call them silencers)

These Spa lovelies are from Jano2106's Flickr album. The hunched wild boar stance of this Japauto Moto Martin is honking all my hooters.
This is obviously from a different race but in the same album. Now if I was about 7 stone lighter and about 2 foot shorter, this would be my weapon of choice (for maximum deformity pleasure). BP

Amazing commitment Andrew, coming halfway around the world to race in the rain. I'd get bored of all that Californian sun too. G

Were people in the '70's really such a different shape to today? Or was it just the folks who designed race bikes had never met a normal human being "Well everyone I know has three foot long arms and two foot long legs, although some of them are rather fond of bananas."

Gorgeous album. Terrific seeing racefit's suzuki in there. I'm especially giddy about the black & orange Z1 & a couple of Katanas. That period endurance racer look has always been strong - next custom trend?

Dan, there are endurance style bikes out there, but it's a hell of a lot harder to build something that looks like those in the flickr album than to stick some knobblies and a flat seat on a BMW/XS/CB, so it's never going to catch on the same way. G

Hi Gary,

First of all, sorry for my english (i'm just a little french guy) !
I am "Jano2106", the author of this two photos. So, i can say to you that it's the same gallery but not the same album... the Japauto was taken in Spa during the Biker's Classics' 10th anniversary, three weeks ago.
The Garelli was taken in Dijon during the Coupes Motos Légende's 20th anniversary.
Here, you can see two intersting views of the Japauto in Dijon, this year :
